Softcare Studios is a digital health startup developing virtual reality experiences for pain/stress management and therapy education of patients (pediatrics and adults) undergoing critical medical procedures. Our products are present in 15+ healthcare facilities, undergoing clinical validation, and distributed in form of bundles to hospitals, medical specialists, Pharma, and Medtech companies.

TOMMI: VR gaming experience for drug-free pain and stress management in pediatric patients

TOMMI is a virtual reality gaming experience designed in collaboration with doctors as a non-invasive and drug-free digital tool to reduce pain perception and clinical anxiety in pediatric patients (7-13 years old) in the hospital setting. The application consists of 4 gaming activities tailored to supporting children in different critical moments of the therapy experience, with a special focus on pediatric oncology, dentistry, and painful medical procedures such as vascular access routines. Preliminary results of ongoing clinical studies showed a 40% reduction in pain perception and a significant drop in necessary sedation rate during invasive medical procedures in young patients using TOMMI. The product is provided to hospitals, MedTech companies, and pediatric foundations in form of VR bundles, including training sessions of the medical personnel.
AREAL: VR gaming experience for stress management and therapy education of adult patients

AREAL: VR gaming experience for stress management and therapy education of adult patients

AREAL is a virtual reality gaming experience designed in collaboration with doctors and developed in partnership with Novartis Italy pharma company, as a non-invasive and drug-free digital tool for stress management and therapy education of young adults and adult patients with rare blood diseases (thalassemia and SCD) undergoing recurring transfusion therapy. The application consists of 3 gaming activities aimed at stimulating the cognitive skills of patients while ensuring the successful completion of the medical procedure, also including educational tips to inform about therapy and a healthy lifestyle. The product is undergoing pilot testing in 3 main hospitals in Italy and it’s provided to healthcare facilities in form of VR bundles, including training sessions for the medical personnel.
