Description

Hypermeteo is an innovative startup specializing in the processing and development of high-resolution weather and climate datasets, indices, and scenarios, designed to be seamlessly integrated into business decision-making processes through a high-performance API system. These APIs enable companies to incorporate valuable weather-climate insights into their adaptation plans, supporting climate risk management and helping reduce losses related to climate change.

Hypermeteo collects and integrates data from monitoring networks, which are then processed and mapped onto a territorial digital grid, enabling the creation of a dense network of virtual weather stations (1 per km²). These stations generate a continuous stream of high-resolution, representative, and ISO 9001 / ISO/IEC 25000-certified data.

In a context of growing awareness around the impacts of climate change, Hypermeteo introduces 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥®, an advanced climate risk analysis service aligned with the EU Taxonomy. The service provides scenarios based on 𝐑𝐂𝐏 𝟒.𝟓 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐂𝐏 𝟖.𝟓 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, as required by regulation. These scenarios are developed from a 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐔𝐑𝐎-𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐗 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 and enhanced through 𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬, achieving a spatial resolution of up to 5 km. 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥® delivers 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 to support the resilience of 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬, 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. Recently included in the 𝑈𝑁𝐸𝑃 𝑆𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑅𝑖𝑠𝑘 𝑇𝑜𝑜𝑙 𝐷𝑎𝑠ℎ𝑏𝑜𝑎𝑟𝑑 (United Nations Environment Programme), the service serves as a reliable reference for financial institutions and stakeholders in assessing climate risks and promoting strategic planning based on scientific evidence.

𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬, as evidenced by the events of July 2023 in Northern Italy, can cause significant damage to buildings, cars, infrastructure, and agriculture, with consequential impacts on insurance markets. In response to this challenge, Hypermeteo has developed an 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐥-𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬. By utilizing radar data and meteorological variables, the model integrates observed and modeled information to improve estimation precision. It has been trained and validated using a comprehensive dataset of approximately 6000 hail events reported in Italy over the course of a year. Hypermeteo is currently expanding the training dataset and integrating new variables to further enhance the predictive capabilities of the model, aiming for future application on a European scale.
