Soil consolidation and stabilization with innovative and patented solutions

Start-up of Campania Region

Description

ARKEAN is an innovative start-up specialized in the field of soil consolidation. Our mission is to consolidate the supporting soils of structures and infrastructure to ensure stability and safety. We are a company that bases its principles on responsibility and transparency towards its customers. Our goal is to safeguard the existing real estate assets with effective, innovative and environmentally friendly construction processes in a lasting way. All our interventions are carried out with the help of a unique, exclusive and patented monitoring system using state-of-the-art equipment in perfect line with the new frontier of industry 4.0.

Special expanding polyurethane resins are injected into the volumes of soft soil through small-diameter pipes. The resin, injected in the liquid phase, start to expand in less than a minute, compacting soil, filling voids and displacing water (if present), until polymerization. Compared to existing monitoring technologies, dB-Consolidation process consist in a double monitoring – SOIL + STRUCTURE – allowing an increase of level mastery during site operations, with a corresponding - Increase of treatment efficiency - Reduction in potential damage to the structure (improper lifting) or impacts on water pipes system - Reduction in the consumption of injected resin (with the related economic and environmental benefits)

Patent A : The friction of resin expansion generates noises that are detected and amplified at the surface by high sensitivity geophones. This detection allow to locate the consolidation path of each injection cycle in real time, to guarantee that the volume of injected resin expands into the desired volumes of soil. Patent B: Once the resin expansion has exhausted the consolidating actions in the soil, the increased confinement conditions around the injection point could induce a phase of “stress” on the structure. During this phase it is possible to detect acoustic vibes using special transducers. This detection allows site operators to dose injection cycles with increased attention, temporarily or permanently interrupting the injection cycle in progress. The analysis and the trend of the acoustic parameters detected allow to monitor the treatment of each single injection point, validating it and moving on to the next once a stabilization of the measurements has been achieved.
