Description

Snam is the leading European operator in natural gas transport, with a network of around 41,000 km between Italy, Austria, France, Greece and the UK. The company also deals with storage and regasification. Snam is among the leading Italian listed companies by market capitalisation.

With its 80 years of experience in the development and management of infrastructure, Snam guarantees security of supply and promotes energy transition with investments in green gas (biomethane and hydrogen), energy efficiency and CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) technology. It also creates new green areas through a benefit company focused on urban forestation projects.

After being one of the first companies in the energy sector to commit to achieving zero net greenhouse gas emissions ("Scope 1" and "Scope 2" emissions) by 2040, Snam was the first EU energy infrastructure company to set targets for 2030 on indirect “Scope 3” emissions (subsidiaries, suppliers). Snam’s commitment to achieving the 2040 carbon neutrality target remains solid even in the current extremely challenging environment, marked by major changes in the industry and in gas transport flows in the country.

Snaminnova

Snaminnova, Snam’s Open Innovation program, aims to accelerate the company’s innovation capacity to effectively seize the opportunities offered by the evolution of energy systems.
Snaminnova is coordinated by Snam’s Open Innovation team. As the company sets a sharp focus on innovation, it seeks to involve different expertise centers within the organization, alongside the most promising startups, to advance its innovation objectives.
Snaminnova is developed on a digital platform including three main innovation streams: internal innovation, external innovation and innovation culture. Within the internal innovation we introduced the so-called ‘Centrale delle Idee’, a contest dedicated to our employees with the aim to develop ideas in line with our company needs.
As regards external innovation, we continuously scout solutions  aimed at finding the best possible digital and innovative tools to reach our strategy goals.
As for the innovation culture stream, we created an internal community of ambassadors who represent and promote innovation at Snam through cross-fertilization and contamination within all our different business units.
