Description

Edison is a leading energy company, with over 140 years of history and achievements, making it he oldest operator in the sector in Europe. The company, which started operations in Milan in December 1883, ushered in a new era through the electrification of the country, making a tangible contribution to Italy’s social, cultural, economic and industrial progress. Today, Edison employs over 6,000 people and operates in Italy and Europe in renewable and low-carbon generation, natural gas supply and sales, and sustainable mobility, and, through Edison Energia and Edison Next, it provides energy, environmental and value-added services for customers, businesses, local communities and the Public Administration. The Group is at the forefront of the energy transition challenge, consistently with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and EU decarbonisation policies. Edison has a highly flexible and efficient electricity production fleet, consisting of 250 power plants, including hydroelectric, wind, solar and high-efficiency combined cycle gas plants, with a total capacity of approximately 8 GW. It is also a key player in energy security in the supply of LNG and natural gas, thanks to a broad and highly diversified portfolio of over 14 billion cubic meters per year, capable of meeting 23% of national demand. In 2021, Edison established the EOS (Edison Orizzonte Sociale) Foundation, a corporate foundation that allows the Company to strengthen its social commitment by contributing with its people and skills to the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.
