Description
In recent years, the Umbria Region has promoted an ambitious innovation policy, a policy strongly oriented towards experimentation which aims to transform the region into an open-air laboratory, capable of attracting the most ambitious and technologically advanced enterprises. With this in mind, different actions have been implemented by the Region together with Sviluppumbria, the regional development agency.
The smart specialization strategy was reviewed by focusing on "intelligence, well-being, circularity and creativity" and strengthening the entrepreneurial discovery process with tools capable of effectively helping companies in their digital and sustainable transition path.
A solid acceleration program has been developed, with the aims of reducing the mortality rate of startups by placing a strong focus not only on the technology, but also on the ability of new products and services to respond to the real needs and problems of potential customers.
Sviluppumbria has promoted many actions to strengthen the entrepreneurial culture of the area, supporting micro and small enterprises operating in traditional sectors to innovate their products and processes and also working with university and high school students, involving them not only in training activities but also in real “challenges” to design technologically advanced and sustainable products and services.
Therefore, the participation in SMAU, to which the Region and Sviluppumbria are participating for the first time, falls within this strongly innovation-oriented policy and will represent an opportunity for the entire territorial ecosystem to foster that encounter, contamination and collaboration that each territorial innovation ecosystem needs to continue to grow.
