Plastic Free Certification Sbrl was founded in 2019 as the world's first certification body for Plastic Free standards. Its mission is to promote the reduction of single-use plastics and the adoption of sustainable practices. The Plastic Free certification offers numerous benefits, including the recognition of efforts to reduce plastic, improved environmental performance, and increased visibility and credibility for the participating organizations. Additionally, the certification provides ongoing support, personalized consulting, and promotional materials to communicate the commitment to sustainability.

The Plastic Free Certification - Management System provides a comprehensive framework for managing the reduction of single-use plastics across the entire production chain, including packaging and supply stages. The program includes personalized consulting, a verification audit, and the use of a digital monitoring platform that, among other things, allows for the calculation of equivalent CO2 savings achieved. Organizations can attain one of five progress grades, from E to A, towards the complete elimination of single-use plastics. To date, numerous prestigious establishments have chosen this certification scheme, from Atelier Crenn in San Francisco to the Art restaurant in Singapore, as well as Château de Saran by Moet&Chandon, and Michelin-starred restaurants and hotels like Mirazur, Flocons de Sel, and Gucci Osteria by Massimo Bottura. The Plastic Free Product Certification, developed in collaboration with Contro Union UK and Race for Water, refers to the material contents of the individual products to be certified. This Standard is aimed at all companies that want to promote the sustainability of individual products, including their packaging, or innovative substances and materials that are free of fossil-based plastic components. Depending on the characteristics of the products, it is possible to obtain one of the following labels: Plastic Free Material, Plastic Free Packaging, Plastic Free Product, Conventional Plastic Free Material, Conventional Plastic Free Packaging, Conventional Plastic Free Product.
