Tech-Up Accelerator is the internal unit of Fondazione REI specialized on delivering innovation services to companies of the province of Reggio Emilia, in Italy. Enstablished in 2021, it has been specializing on technologies for manufacturing, cleantech, and energy transition: its main mission is to foster innovation processes in the industrial ecosystem of the city, which has a long tradition in those areas and it is now tackling the sustainability and digital transitions. Tech-Up Accelerator activities are focused mainly on two goals: open innovation, that is facilitating the match and collaboration between, on one hand, established companies and, on the other hand, innovative startups from both Italy and abroad; and innovation design, that is the diffusion of innovation culture and capabilities into the local industrial ecosystem. During its first year of activity, Tech-Up Accelerator has developed 4 acceleration programs, which involved around 30 early-stage startups; and it has delivered 6 open innovation projects, including pilot collaborations on new technology implementation and Design Thinking programs.
