Description
The Emilia-Romagna Region anticipates the future thanks to the regional ecosystem for research and innovation, which acts as a “multiplier” for opportunities, ideas, collaborations and services. Founded on the crossroad between research and businesses, it is in continuous dialogue with the training and education community to encompass the demand for high skills in all production sectors. The heart of the ecosystem is the Emilia-Romagna High Technology Network - co-financed by Emilia-Romagna Region with European funds - that gathers over 80 accredited industrial public and private research laboratories, 14 innovation centres and 1474 researchers; 10 Technopoles in 20 locations - plus the international Hub on Big Data in Bologna; 10 local spaces born to encourage young people with high skills to approach the labor market and strengthen the regional production system in the leading and emerging sectors identified in the Regional Intelligent Specialization Strategy (S3), 100 incubators, accelerators and innovation centers, 500 startups network, 14 Fab Labs, 10 Open Labs for digital innovation, 11 Clust-ER i.e. sector focused associations - including Muner Motorvehicle University and Big Data Association - made up of more than 700 public and private entities operating in the most important regional supply chains. At the centre of the innovation ecosystem, ART-ER - Attractiveness Research Territory has a pivotal role representing the gate opener for those organizations carrying out innovation in the region. With over 372.000 companies and exportations of Euro 63.3 Billion (2019), Emilia-Romagna is a key engine for the national economy and one of the most supportive regions for innovation in Italy: it has been identified as Strong Innovator Region in the European Innovation Scoreboard in 2021.
