Description

LOKI has developed a mobile anomaly detection system for monitoring roads and sidewalks. The plug-and-play hardware uses up to three cameras and captures images and data at speeds of up to 130 km/h, which are anonymized by AI at the edge and analyzed in the cloud. With Asfalto Sicuro®, we detect defects such as potholes and cracks, as well as vertical and horizontal road signage. With AIPECRA, we identify architectural barriers near pedestrian crossings. The data is authenticated, making it suitable for insurance purposes, with an accuracy of 20 cm. By combining satellite, weather, and traffic data, it is possible to predict the progression of existing defects and the appearance of new ones, minimizing the number of required measurements.

Asfalto Sicuro® addresses the problem of ineffective and costly road infrastructure monitoring, which can lead to damaged and unsafe roads. In particular, the system tackles the following issues: Timely Detection of Road Defects: Municipalities, provincial authorities, regional authorities, and motorway operators must monitor and maintain thousands of kilometers of roads. Potholes, cracks, and other road irregularities are often not detected promptly, leading to more serious deterioration and higher repair costs. Asfalto Sicuro® uses advanced technologies to continuously monitor road conditions, identifying defects and road elements. Road Safety: Undetected road defects represent a significant danger for all road users, especially cyclists and e-scooter riders, who are more vulnerable to accidents caused by uneven road surfaces. The system improves road safety by quickly detecting and reporting these hazards. Maintenance Efficiency: Traditional road maintenance can be inefficient and expensive, with interventions often carried out in a non-targeted way. Asfalto Sicuro® enables precise geolocation of defects, allowing maintenance teams to act more effectively and in a more targeted manner, reducing operational time and costs. Promotion of Sustainable Mobility: Poor road conditions discourage the use of sustainable means of transport such as bicycles and e-scooters. By improving road quality, Asfalto Sicuro® encourages the use of these modes of transport, contributing to the reduction of urban pollution and the promotion of a healthier lifestyle. Resource Optimization: Municipal administrations and road authorities often have to manage limited resources.
