Renzo Giovanni Avesani

Biography

Mr. Avesani is the Chief Innovation Officer of Unipol Gruppo. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Leithà, Unipol Group’s solution factory. Leithà innovates in the insurance business applying the DevOps principles and using Big Data, AI and Machine Learning.
Renzo gave his contribution to the development of the European and Italian legislation regarding Solvency II as Unipol’s CRO, Chairman of the CRO Forum association, Chairman of the Solvency II Steering Committee of Insurance Europe and as member of the Stakeholders Group of EIOPA. After graduating in Economics at Bocconi University, he earned a PhD at New York University. He had various working experiences both at the national and international level. He has been the CRO of Banca Intesa and he was in charge of developing the Risk Management activities at the Banking Supervision and Regulation Division of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He has also been Professor of Macroeconomics and Finance at the University of Brescia (Italy).
