ACEA is one of the leading Italian multiutility operator.

Listed on the Italian Stock Exchange since 1999, the company manages and develops water and electricity networks and environmental services. Its operating segments include: integrated water services (aqueduct, sewerage and waste water treatment), the distribution of electricity, public and artistic lighting, the sale of electricity and natural gas, energy production, waste disposal and energy recovery from waste.

ACEA is the foremost Italian operator in the water services sector supplying 9 million inhabitants in Lazio, Tuscany, Umbria, Molise and Campania; it is one of the major energy players in Italy selling around 7 TWh of electricity and distributing approximately 10 TWh in the city of Rome.

ACEA is one of the largest Italian environmental operators processing around two million tons of waste every year. The Company, which is committed to the attainment of challenging sustainability goals, has included in its 2020-2024 Business Plan investments totalling 2.1 billion Euro aimed at achieving sustainability targets, such as the reduction of CO2 emissions and the use of green energy.

Acea Smart Comp

Acea Smart Comps are innovative distributed composting plants equipped with revolutionary sensor technology that transforms organic waste into compost, using an aerobic process that produces ready-to-use fertilizer. This initiative creates a new approach focused on proximity, which closes the gap between where the waste is produced and the place where it is processed. With Acea Smart Comp up to 2 ton of CO2 can be saved per ton of waste, by decentralizing the treatment and allowing the sequestration of CO2 in the compost.The Acea Smart Comp solution is fully authomatizated and due to a  smart system and to patented sensors inside the compost mass monitors the progress of the process inside the composting chamber in real time. The monitoring and management of data is guaranteed by SCADA and IoT infrastructure which, with maximum security and solidity, that allows Acea to operate the control room, creating a virtuous plants network. The process management is made by expert technicians supported by IoT platforms for data analysis and by AI and ML for process optimization.
