Abruzzo Region

The Abruzzo production system, with a gross domestic product of over 30B€, is seventh in Italy for industrial specialization, seventh for exports as a percentage of GDP (8.7B€ and about 50% related to the automotive sector), sixth for trade surplus and second for trade value (every 100 euros imported, more than 200 are exported), a system that has one of the highest rates of diversity in Italy (721 categories of activities in the territory). Almost 85% of companies are microenterprises (with 3-9 employees), while small enterprises (10-49 employees) represent 14.2% of the regional total. Medium and large enterprises are made up of a total of only 50 units, or about 1.1% of the total.
