- 7 universities, over 12 thousand researchers and teachers,180.000 students
- 2 Scientific Institutes for Treatment and Research (IRCCS)
- 40 advanced research centers, active in technology transfer and innovation services
- 7 High-Tech Districts and 21 public private laboratories operating in the regional strategic fields:
aerospace, biotechnology, health and agrifood, energy and environment, tourism, cultural heritage and sustainable construction, new materials and nanotechnology, transport and logistics. In addition to emerging sectors such as the blue and bio economy and mature sectors such as fashion system
- 30 structures to support entrepreneurship (accelerators, fab-labs, service centers and 2 certified incubators)
- 788 innovative startups (April 2019)
- 1 billion euro invested in Research and Innovation Policies (+Digital Agenda) 2014-2020.
