Description
Relicta aims to be part of the solution to a significant problem: traditional plastic pollution. Relicta's solution is a water-soluble and biodegradable packaging made from waste from the fishing industry. The material is water-soluble but resistant to high humidity environments. It takes about 20 days to dissolve in cold water (like seawater), but in hot water (around 40/50 degrees Celsius), it dissolves in a few seconds, allowing consumers to dispose of the material within their homes. The startup's objective is to transfer their laboratory-developed technology into an automated process for producing bioplastic directly from fish processing waste. Currently, Relicta has validated its technology in the laboratory with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 5, but it plan to raise it to TRL 6 within 6 months. Subsequently, the startup aims to construct a semi-industrial plant for producing bioplastic film reels from fish waste (skin and bones).
