The innovative startup "RUB-LAB s.r.l." was established with the objective of promoting and enhancing the use of Granular Vulcanized Rubber (GVR) for multiple industrial applications, following the rationale of the circular economy model.
In particular, the EU action plan for the circular economy mandates the abandonment of the linear economic model, the so-called "take-make-dispose," in favor of the so-called "Close the Loop."
Granular Vulcanized Rubber, as defined by Ministerial Decree 178/2020 (DM 178/2020), is no longer a waste to be disposed of, but instead becomes a resource for the production of innovative and eco-sustainable materials that allow for the reduction of virgin raw material consumption extracted from the natural environment and also rebalance the ratio between material recovery and energy recovery: today, most of the chips/shreds obtained from end-of-life tire recovery are destined for energy recovery. The innovative startup "RUB-LAB" is positioned within this context.
