Regione Umbria

UMBRIA: A place where startups experiment, connect with industry and scale internationally

Description

The Umbria Region is developing a dynamic innovation ecosystem where research, entrepreneurship and industry work together to turn ideas into market opportunities. Regional policies focus on supporting startups and innovative SMEs along their growth and internationalisation journey, creating connections between companies, universities, investors and public institutions.

The regional approach promotes a structured innovation pipeline that helps transform research results and entrepreneurial ideas into scalable businesses, from early experimentation to market validation and international development.

Among the initiatives driving this ecosystem are SMARTup, the regional acceleration programme implemented with Sviluppumbria, which supports startups through coaching, managerial advisory, business model development, networking with investors and experienced entrepreneurs, and dedicated financial support for early-stage projects. Alongside this initiative, the Accademia Pratica dell’Innovazione offers hands-on programmes where startups and SMEs experiment with innovation management, product and service development and the use of AI-enabled tools to manage complex innovation processes.

At the same time, the Region promotes collaboration between enterprises, universities and research centres, strengthening industrial and technological supply chains in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, aerospace, sustainable materials and digital technologies.

At SMAU Paris, the Umbria Region presents a selection of high-potential startups ready to explore partnerships, investment opportunities and new international markets.
