The Lactalis Group in Italy is part of the French Lactalis Group, the world leader in dairy products, with over €30 billion in revenue, 85,500 employees, and 266 production sites in 50 countries.
Lactalis has been operating in Italy for over 35 years and is built on some of the most prestigious brands of the Italian dairy tradition: Invernizzi, Cademartori, and Galbani—market leaders and symbols of Italian cheese excellence worldwide. In 2011, Parmalat, the leading milk brand in Italy, was acquired. In 2020, the acquisition of the Castelli Group was finalized—an industry leader in the production and distribution of Italian PDO cheeses. In 2021, the portfolio was expanded with the addition of Leerdammer, and in 2023, with Ambrosi.
The Lactalis Group in Italy, with 4,000 product references across milk, cheese, cured meats, and PDO items, is made up of 6 Business Units: BU Cheese (Galbani and Leerdammer), BU Meat (Galbani Il Mio Salumiere), BU Milk (Parmalat), BU PDO (Castelli and Ambrosi), BU Lactalis Italia Export, and BU Lactalis Italia Out of Home.
With a turnover of over €2.9 billion, Lactalis in Italy employs 5,300 people and operates 30 production facilities across the country.
It is the largest purchaser of Italian milk, collecting 1.4 billion liters annually from around 1,100 dairy suppliers in 13 Italian regions. This milk is processed in line with tradition and guaranteed by over 8 million rigorous quality checks per year, carried out with cutting-edge technology throughout the entire supply, production, and distribution chain.
