Daniele is a venture capital investor and a former civil servant with 15 years of experience across technology, climate change, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and the future of work.
At GC1 Ventures, Daniele manages a portfolio of top-tier venture capital funds and innovative early-stage startups. He seeks out and invests in exceptional startup founders and venture capital fund managers who are creating positive impact and value in the world. He is passionate about supporting and empowering entrepreneurs and innovators who are solving the most pressing challenges of our time, including as a Mentor for Techstars Oakland. Additionally, he shares his insights on venture capital with the Forbes Finance Council, an invitation-only organization for successful senior-level financial services executives and leaders.
Daniele spent a decade as economic and policy advisor in the U.K. government, driving work on a variety of policy areas. He led strategic advice on EU negotiations and on the digital economy at HM Treasury, the U.K. government’s department responsible for developing and executing economic and financial policy. During this time he also advised the Argentine G20 Presidency, helping to deliver an ambitious agenda on infrastructure financing and artificial intelligence, through the G20 Policy Options for the Future of Work, and the 2018 G20 Leaders declaration.
Daniele played a crucial role in establishing the New Climate Economy, a major international initiative focused on how nations can pursue economic growth while managing climate-related risks. He has been in the front line of several other groundbreaking projects addressing climate change, such as the UK National Adaptation Program, which sets strategies for adapting to climate impacts, the UK Carbon Plan, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the short to medium term, and the 2050 Pathways, a comprehensive framework designed to achieve emission reductions by 2050.
Daniele was born in Italy, has lived across the UK, EU, Latin America, and the US, and speaks 5 languages. He holds degrees from Bocconi University, the London School of Economics, and Stanford University. Daniele is also a self-taught programmer, an angel investor, a board game enthusiast, and a triathlete.
