Danilo Sorrentino is Climate Change Strategy Manager at SNCF Réseau, where he leads engineering and maintenance activities within the Technical, Engineering and Innovation Directorate, focusing on integrating climate resilience and sustainability into infrastructure strategy and long-term planning. He previously served as Head of the Vehicle-Track Interaction Section, where he oversaw technical activities in infrastructure gauging, railway dynamics, and track layout design. He was recognized as the youngest international expert within the SNCF Group’s Synapses network. Danilo also led the international UIC Harmotrack Project, bringing together over 200 experts from more than 60 railway companies and academic institutions across the globe to advance the use of onboard measurements for track quality monitoring and infrastructure management.
Danilo is involved in international railway standardisation, serving as a member of CEN TC256/WG10 and WG55, a contributor to the UIC Track-Train Interaction (TTI) Sector, and President of the French standardisation group BNF/E10. He also contributes to international climate action in the rail sector as a member of the UIC RERA Hub and the ERJU Rail4Earth programme, both focused on advancing climate resilience and environmental innovation in railway systems. He holds a double MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and ENSTA Paris.
